Think Like a Kid
Think Like a Kid by Brenda Muehleisen
Superheroes, professional athletes, and doctors are just a few career choices kids have on their minds when they grow up. They have no endless obstacles if they want to become President of the United States. If you laugh at a child when they say they want to become an astronaut, they will give you the strangest look. They truly in their hearts believe that is what they are going to be when they grow up. If we could still think this way our possibilities would be everlasting.
Kids see the world in an entirely different way than adults do. They’re so creative and full of imagination. They can turn blankets into forts, and a box into a house. Pablo Picasso once said, “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.” At some point we stop believing things were possible, and started to believe things just couldn’t be done. We are constantly telling kids that any thing is possible, but are we being hypocrites?
Kids will ALWAYS tell the truth. You’ll never find a kid that beats around the bush when you ask them what they think. A kid will let you know if your hair looks horrific, but they will also let you know when they think you look beautiful. Would it kill us to be a little less tactful? Let’s quit taking life too seriously and tap into our inner child. Sing and dance like a little kid would in public! Let down your guard, quit over thinking, and be free again.
