Cuts for Kids Event
Cuts for Kids Event
Our annual Cuts for Kids event took place on the 19th of August at both our Hays and Salina campuses. Combined, our school provided over 200 free haircuts to kids K-12. We were blessed to have Celebration Community Church in Hays and New Community Christian Church in Salina as sponsors who assisted in providing a fun and exciting atmosphere for all children to enjoy. From bouncy houses, games, treats and a positive environment, children and parents loved the opportunity to have their kids partake in a free, fun event. Many of our students volunteered to help in this event as well as local salon professionals who are alumni of our two schools. It was incredible to have our alumni wanting to be a part of this event. Hays Academy has worked hard to provide our students with the means to give back to their community and make people feel great by providing them with a haircut. Seeing the look on these young people’s faces when they have a fresh style and the ability to play and have fun was priceless. Their reactions give our staff the motivation to make this event even more elaborate in the coming years.
Danielle Markley, co-owner of Hays Academy of Hair Design said “This past weekend we had the great privilege to serve our communities of Hays and Salina once again. We offered over 200 free haircuts to elementary children. This is just another way we choose to give back to our communities that have supported us throughout the years as well as teaching our students the importance of service over self.”
