Who We Are

Hays Academy of Hair Design (HAHD), with campuses in both Hays and Salina is Kansas’ premier cosmetology school. Offering courses in both cosmetology and nail technology, students are able to receive an incredible education at an affordable price. Being a Sassoon Academy Connection School, students become educated and practice the industry’s most elite cutting technique, developed by the late Vidal Sassoon and are taught by Sassoon Academy certified instructors. This style of cutting, though challenging, is internationally the most in-demand cutting style, allowing students to be able to follow their dreams wherever they may take them!

Wella Professionals Color Line
Among their studies, students will learn about WELLA Professionals the exclusive color line of HAHD. Formulating color and having a firm understanding of color technology according to the skin tones of their clients, as well as other physical features, is a skill set that will allow Hays Academy graduates to stand out among their peers.

Student Kits
While students practice their skill in our modern and fun student salon, they utilize tools of the trade that are provided via their student kits. These kits are covered 100% by their tuition, and are of such a value, students are able to maintain these same tools once they enter the professional salon floor in their chosen careers. These kits include textbooks, shears, clippers, a flat iron, an airbrush machine for MUDD makeup , and a Tammy Taylor nail kit to name a few items.

Award Winning Students
For nearly thirteen years, our bright and creative students and graduates have accomplished so many inspirational things! Recently, in the 2015 ISSE Hairshow Hays Academy of Hair Design students placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the Sassoon Cut and Color Competition! Also, one of our students placed 1st as the Nuts and Bolts Business Student of the Year! These students were awarded in front of over fifty fellow students, staff, and alumni in Long Beach, California. Another recent accomplishment occurred at Hays Academy of Hair Design’s Trendvision event in which nearly twenty of our students competed. After having their worked judged by celebrity hairstylist Benton Lee and area salon owners/managers, the number one finisher of the top three, is going to compete in the Trendvision event in Minnesota!
