Where are you from?
What was the defining moment in you choosing to attend cosmetology school?
I can’t really put a finger on exactly when I wanted to go to Cosmetology School. My junior year of high school, I visited Sidney’s in Hutchinson and I was set on going there until one of my teachers, Mr. Pavlovich told me I was going to go to Hays Academy of Hair Design, he’s friends with the owner. So I went for a visit and feel in LOVE… I told them I was 100% coming to them!
What fears did you have and how did you overcome them?
The fear of failing! We all want be good enough, but not being the BEST at everything isn’t all that matters.
What were some of your favorite aspects of Hays Academy of Hair Design and your time in school?
Top 3 Things I loved about Hays Academy is 1. Prayers and Praises, you got to connect with everyone on another level and it felt safe. 2. Celebration Fridays. 3. Dressing up and celebrating the accomplishments we all made!
Where are you working now?
The instructors were always there to talk to about anything and everything. I’m working at SmartStyles and Supercuts. I’ve been working for this company for a year.
Are you happy with your decision to enter this wonderful industry?
I’m more than happy I have learned many things about hair and life working in this industry. I wouldn’t change anything that has happened to me.
What career goals do you have and what are your plans to achieve them?
I plan to eventually move back to McPherson area and open a salon focusing mostly on waxing. Not sure how soon that will happen because of my husband’s job. We have been traveling for years now moving from state to state. I love the life I’m living! I live for what’s in the moment and don’t look back!
